G.B. Ferraro
Mountain refuges - Champoluc/Ayas/AntagnodThe Ferraro mountain hut was inaugurated on 26 June 1932 and, since then, has welcomed generations of walkers and lovers of Monte Rosa and Val d'Ayas. In the early 2000s, it underwent careful and respectful renovation, designed to preserve its original spirit while making it more welcoming for modern hikers. The renovation enhanced the historic stone and wood structure, improving the interior spaces and services without detracting from the authentic atmosphere that has always characterised this corner of the valley.
The refuge was built in the Walser architectural style, as evidenced by the inscriptions on the lintel at the entrance: a precious detail that tells the ancient history of the place and its deep connection with Alpine culture.
Today, the Ferraro Refuge continues to be a reference point for those travelling along the Alta Via n. 1 or venturing along the paths at the foot of Monte Rosa. It is a place where Alpine tradition meets contemporary hospitality, and where every visit leaves a memory that adds to almost a century of history.
The facility is located in Resy, an ancient Walser village founded in 1200, which still retains the charm of its traditional architecture and centuries-old history. At an altitude of 2,066 metres, the G.B. Ferraro Refuge offers 25 beds in 7 rooms, guaranteeing a simple but attentive welcome.
Thanks to its strategic location, the refuge is the ideal place to stop at the end of a hike or for a short break during more demanding outdoor activities. A valuable base for those seeking nature, tranquillity and an authentic alpine experience.
