There are four Alpine botanical gardens in the Aosta Valley evidence of the awareness and intention to preserving the natural heritage and, in particular, in protecting the floristic heritage:
- Chanousia garden, at the Little St Bernard pass, in the La Thuile area
- Saussurea garden at the Pavillon station of the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car, in Courmayeur
- Paradisia garden in Cogne-Valnontey and in the Gran Paradiso national park
- Castel Savoia garden in Gressoney-Saint-Jean.
These Alpine botanical gardens offer the naturalist a useful research tool while offering the visitor the chance to discover the characteristic mountain environment and alpine flora.
