Description of the route

By car, reach Chardonney, a few kilometers above Champorcher. Go past the houses of the village and, before a bridge on the left, you will find several parking lots. Nearby there is a large area equipped for picnics, with tables and a children's play area.

On foot, go over a second bridge, after the one that leads to the cable car, cross the stream and then take the mule track that begins shortly after a group of houses. Turn left and follow the hairpin bends that wind under the cable car. The mule track enters through woods and clearings, up to a small votive chapel. Just before the chapel, take the fork on the left, uphill and without further signs. After a short stretch, you will encounter, on the right, the huts of an alpine pasture. The mule track continues with a wide bend to the right among the pastures, passing to the left of the arrival station of the Chardonney-Laris gondola lift (in operation in summer, on weekends in July and every day in August, an option to shorten the route). From here it continues along a path that in winter is a ski slope.

Pay attention to the left side of the path, to locate the sign that indicates the start of the path to Lake Vercoche. This approaches a small stream, which must be crossed to continue on its left, climbing towards the bottom of a small valley. Near a large boulder, the path climbs towards the cable car, then climbs along the ridge of Bec Laris, crosses a scree and reaches a first hill. From here, an almost flat stretch leads to another hill, from which you can enjoy a splendid view of the lake. The path then descends among the scree, until it reaches the shore of the lake, which you can walk along without difficulty.
