On March 15th, a large gathering on the snow will liven up Breuil-Cervinia with a group bike descent from the 3,500 meters of Plateau Rosa to the 2,050 of Cervinia. A unique opportunity to ride on the snow under the imposing profile of the Matterhorn and to do charity.
Trekking and discovery
If you’re already feeling the arrival of spring and love trekking, the Cammino Balteo hiking trail invites you to explore some of its lower-altitude stages:
In Pontboset, you can walk across ancient bridges along the Ayasse torrent, while in the lower Lys Valley, you can discover the charming villages of Perloz and Lillianes.
Tradition and Culture
The Carnivals of the Great Saint Bernard and Valpelline valleys, which began after Epiphany, continue in March enlivening the villages with their vibrant costumes and cheerful energy.
By March, during the weekends and on Shrove Tuesday, historical carnivals reach their climax:
- In Verrès, the legacy of the noble Challant family is celebrated with costume events in the village and in the castle
- In Pont-Saint-Martin, the legend of the Lys nymph intertwines with the re-enactment of Roman era, with a chariot race, and the Devil’s effigy burned at the ancient Roman bridge over the Lys River.
For photography enthusiasts, don’t miss the last days of the following exhibitions:
- Gianfranco Ferré Dentro l’obiettivo at the Fort of Bard, open until March 9th
