Description of the route
From Arlier, in the municipality of Chambave, continue along the road towards Goillaz. Just after the village, the private road, closed to traffic, joins it on the left, take this on foot up to Lusey Damon, which is where the dirt road ends. Continue along trail which rises steeply to the right of the building and go into the mixed conifer wood. When you come to the crossroad, ignore the descending branch and continue straight along the path which is only marked with yellow spots and rises diagonally up the orographic left side of the Ponton valley, until you reach a plateau, where you see the forest guard’s lodge, also called Ponton bivouac. Continue climbing up this trail, mainly on stone ground, until you come to Col Varotta, a saddle between Mont Revi and Mont Avic.
