As part of the Journées de la Francophonie 2025, Presentation of the book « Pierino Chanoux et son “Diario” ».
Joseph-César Perrin was born in Aosta on 2 November 1937 and lives in Aymavilles. He taught for a few years (1957-1970) and then worked at the Regional Historical Archive in Aosta as a research archivist from 1971 to 1983. He participated in the political and administrative life of the region.
One hundred years after his birth and eighty years after his death, it is important to bring to light a young partisan who sacrificed himself for freedom. As a young schoolboy, Pierino Chanoux wrote a diary in which he recounted his childhood and his studies. When he was called to arms by the Republic of Salò, as he told his friends, he refused to present himself, deserted and went into hiding. Then his feelings led him to contribute to the anti-fascist struggle and he joined the partisans of the Vertosan band, heroically falling under enemy fire.
Organised by the Historical Institute of Resistance and Contemporary Society in Valle d'Aosta. Admission free, subject to availability.
