We are in Chamois, the “Pearl of the Alps”, in the Matterhorn valley.
In the hamlet called “Ville”, the house at no. 32 is the oldest, the first inhabited one of the nucleus, the first one that is reachable from the path that climbs up from Buisson (also via the cable car in 6 minutes) to surpass 700 meters of difference in altitude.
Chamois can also be reached on a pleasant excursion from La Magdeleine, traveling about four kilometers on a flat farm trail (closed to cars).
Often you can meet the cute animals that give the name to the Municipality (the chamois) in the meadows under the path of the cable car, which are now accustomed to its presence.
Besides the ski slopes, winter offers a cross-country trail and trails for ski mountaineering and snowshoeing, which in summer become itineraries for mountain bikes and excursions, such as the ascent to Lake Lod and the Clavalité Sanctuary (2500 m.), from where you can enjoy the view of the Matterhorn and the other peaks of the Valle d’ Aosta. Chamois is also a paragliding paradise!
