A welcome to profound relations with the mountains
Some mountain huts, due to their location, offer hospitality, warmth and refreshment especially for experienced mountaineers and trekkers, while other are suitable for hikers and families with children: the easily accessible huts can be reached by walking on paths, mule tracks or farm roads - on average for about an hour and a half - or are connected by cableways.
Along the hiking routes of the Aosta Valley, hikers are also welcomed in the stopovers. Simpler than the mountain huts, the stopovers offer up to a maximum of thirty beds and cooking equipment, but not the food service. Stopovers are generally easy to access, and sometimes are also reachable by car. In places of difficult access, in the high mountains, mountaineers and experienced trekkers find shelter, as well as in the mountain huts, even in the bivouac-huts, which are unattended shelters and equipped summarily.
The mountain huts normally offer multiple beds (from 2 to 6); a sleeping bag is not always necessary, especially in the excursionist shelters: the managers provide blankets, duvets and disposable sheets, even if you would prefer washable, cotton sheets. The keepers are all certified professionals, have an in-depth knowledge of the surrounding mountains and can help you in the best way possible.
