Mountain Cinema: an itinerant event
During July and August, several Val d'Aosta mountain locations host Filmontagna, the festival of mountain cinema. The special Festival formula is a schedule of around twenty films on the mountain and mountain-climbing, taking place at a variety of venues. The itinerant Filmontagna cinema moves from place to place within Val d'Aosta territory, reaching small towns, lakes, a piazza, a church, an auditorium, etc …
Films are selected
from the best national and international productions of mountain cinema. Filmontagna involves the precious collaboration of UNEP and is twinned with several various other international Film Festivals. Screenings do not stop at current productions; every year this festival also proposes several classic films, masterpieces of mountain cinema, past and present.
Filmontagna is not only about films: often directors, protagonists and mountaineers take part in screening evenings. This way, Filmontagna audiences can ask the protagonists in person about any questions raised by the works.
