VEGETATION
Sparse and sporadic woodland composed of mature Larch with alternating Green Alder trees and fields. Undergrowth composed of Juniper and Rhododendrons.

HOW TO GET THERE
You can arrive by taking the road that leads from Valtournenche town to the Cheneil district.

AREA PANORAMA
To the North West you can see Les Grandes Murailles, Château des Dames and Punta Tzan, while to the North East you can see the Cime Bianche, and Cervino to the North.

EXCURSIONS
• Departing from the Cheneil district, a few kilometres further on, you can reach Chamois town by crossing the Gran Balconata route or by following the path leading to Clavalité Sanctuary.
• Again, departing from the Cheneil district you can also make excursions to Becca d’Aran, Petit and Grand Tournalin and Col di Nana by following the Alta Via No. 1 track.
• Starting from Champlève, behind the bar, an easy 1 hour hiking ring following the signpost no. 28.
• Au départ de Champlève, au bout de l’aire de pique-nique, une promenade facile d’environ 30 minutes en prenant le chemin no. 32 pour rejoindre le village de Promindo. Le retour à Champlève peut se faire le long de la route goudronnée.
Starting from Champlève, at the end of the picnic area, an easy walk of about 30 minutes taking path no. 32 to reach the village of Promindo. To return back you can also walk on the paved road to Champlève.

The Barmasse refuge is located at an altitude of 2200 m on the shores of Lake of Cignana and is an excellent reference point for summer excursions, mountain biking, lake fishing and ring trekking. In the dining room entirely covered in wood you can taste the dishes of the mountain cuisine of the Aosta Valley or quench your thirst and eat a slice of cake in the small bar at the entrance. The refuge can be reached only on foot from Valtournenche via the path Alta Via n. 1, from path no. 107 (Grande Balconata del Cervino) from Perrères or from Torgnon always along the path no. 107.

The refuge is located in the Cignana valley at an altitude of 2900 m, and can only be reached on foot.
Home cooking prepared by the owners with use of fresh raw materials (fruits and vegetables). Menus vary according to season.
Parties with packed lunches welcome, with prior reservation. Obligatory purchase is required for this service, but there is no additional charge for use of the facilities.

Hotel Al Caminetto’s restaurant is located on Strada Regionale 46, in the center of Valtournenche. The cozy atmosphere of the house is fundamentally based on the quality of the cuisine, following the grandfather’s tradition with genuine and home-prepared food. The restaurant offers national cuisine alternating with those of the Aosta Valley. On advance request, dishes for those with intolerance problems. Good choice of Aosta Valley and national wines.

The Antica Trattoria Lo Gourfo restaurant is a small jewel nestled between the rock and surrounded by nature. It is located along the ancient path no. 1 which leads to Breuil-Cervinia and can be reached from Valtournenche with an easy 45 min walk. The restaurant is also accessible in a few minutes on foot leaving the car on the Regional Road 46. The restaurant offers true traditional prestigious dishes of the Aosta Valley cuisine giving emotions to guests for 7 generations. The stocked cellar will accompany you on your culinary journey. Next to the restaurant you can also visit the Gouffre des Busserialles, a ravine created at the time of the great thaw, which creates a majestic waterfall with a jump of 10 m. and the famous Marmitte dei Giganti.

Hotel Bijou’s restaurant is located in the center of Valtournenche, opposite the Congress Center and the municipal swimming pool. The cuisine, international and from Aosta Valley, is managed directly by the owners. The dishes are accompanied by national and local wines.

The Bistrò Artemisia Bar La Goille is a restaurant in Alpine style, located along the Regional Road n. 46 to Breuil-Cervinia, a stone’s throw from Lake of Maen. The serene and peaceful atmosphere, the warmth, friendliness and harmony are those of family management. The kitchen offers typical dishes which are prepared with local and genuine ingredients, with particular attention to the local plant, the Genepy (hence the name of the Bistrò “Artemisia”). The restaurant of the Hotel Dama Bianca is located near the center of Valtournenche, in a quiet area overlooking the valley and Lake Maen. The Foyer des Guides restaurant is a restaurant located on the ski slopes, but easily accessible by car. Typical mountain chalet, it combines tradition with modern and functional design elements. The idea of cooking combines in simplicity the flavors of the area and a touch of innovation, using wherever possible natural products at km 0 and organic. A stone cellar with an ancient flavor collects a rich collection of wines (250 regional and national wines).

The La Motta Chez Gabriel restaurant can be reached in 15 minutes with the Valtournenche-Salette cable car. From the arrival you can take the Motta chair lift or reach it ski on your feet. Completely renovated, the restaurant is an authentic mountain chalet with a warm and refined atmosphere, with a spectacular view of the Grandes Murailles. Upstairs there is table service with à la carte menu varied with excellent cuisine and impeccable service. On the ground floor there is a bar/sandwich shop equipped with excellent hot sandwiches prepared with the best local products and an express cuisine in order not to give up tasting excellent hot dishes. Customers will find finely prepared traditional dishes, as well as fresh bread prepared daily in our oven.

La Roisette Restaurant can be reached in 15 minutes with the Valtournenche-Salette cable car. From the arrival, only 100 m on foot separate you. The restaurant is located in a beautiful location, in front of the Grandes Murailles and a few steps from the departure of several chair lifts and treadmills. You will find a welcoming and familiar atmosphere and you can taste Aosta Valley and national dishes and the numerous desserts. The restaurant of the Hotel Les Rochers is located on the Regional Road 46, a few km after the center of Valtournenche. The family atmosphere and the typical mountain environment welcome the customer with dishes of national and regional cuisine, prepared directly by the owners. A good selection of national and local wines is available. And for a relaxing time it is possible to take advantage of the hotel swimming pool and spa.

The facility is located on the slopes of the Cime Bianche skiing facility and you can reach it with the cable car, by foot and with your skiis during the winter.

La Maison du Coq Rouge restaurant is a romantic and welcoming family-run tavern in the heart of Valtournenche. The Maison du Coq Rouge offers delicacies from the typical Savoyard and Valle d’Aosta cuisine to accompany with some of the wine pearls of our small region. The meticulously refined furnishings, the warmth of the fireplace and the suffused notes of bossa nova and jazz offer a warm welcome to our guests.

During the winter open Saturday and Sunday for lunch.

You can reach the restaurant with a 15 minute walk from Barmaz (where the road ends) or with a comfortable lift.

The restaurant of the Hotel Punta Cian is located in Fraz. Maen, on the Regional Road 46. It has a nice and welcoming restaurant where guests, in a family atmosphere, can appreciate the authentic local specialties, cooked by Mrs. Gorret. The culinary offer is based on typical Valle d’Aosta dishes or simply on delicious Italian cuisine, completed by the colorful buffet of salads and cheeses. A good choice of wines will accompany your meal.

The Punta Margherita Hotel restaurant is located on the regional road 46 for Breuil-Cervinia, right at the beginning of the town of Valtournenche. The location offers a splendid view of the valley below and the Lake of Maen. The kitchen offers typical dishes of the traditional Aosta Valley cuisine and classic Italian cuisine, prepared with care. A well-stocked cellar of Aosta Valley wines will accompany your dishes. The Rascard Hotel restaurant is located a few kilometers after the center of Valtournenche, on the Regional Road 46 that leads to Breuil-Cervinia.
