Aromatic herbs with recognized healing properties and known benefits.
The special climate of Valle d'Aosta createsanideal habitat for the growth of medicinal and aromatic herbs which, here, are at their best; they can be used for flavoring dishes of the typical cuisine, distillate highly valued liqueursor prepare herbal teas and infusions with refreshing orhealing properties. They grow wild in the woods or onmountain slopes and,in some cases, are purposely cultivated.
Some years ago a demonstrative agricultural centre, owned by the Region , was created in Saint-Marcel to take care, in collaboration with the Institut Agricole Regional, of the divulgation in this sector and to follow the phases of sowing, harvesting, drying and working of medicinal herbs such as mallow, thyme, génépy, savory, masterwort, edelweiss, sage, lemon balm and many more, to later launch them into the commercial circuit.
