Two study days with expert Italian and foreign archaeologists and historians who will discuss topics and studies related to the Augustan period (late 1st century B.C. - early 1st century A.D.) in Italy and neighbouring territories.
The panel will discuss about the relationship between indigenous populations and the Romans at the time of the foundation of new cities, town planning and architecture in the colonies founded by Augustus, and the exploitation of the territory and natural resources.
Special attention will be paid to archaeological museums, such as those in Aosta, Aquileia and Turin, guardians and narrators of extraordinary finds and stories.
The event is open to the public and to schools in Valle d'Aosta, so that the themes dealt with, despite their scientific rigour, will be addressed in simple and clear language.
Guided tours of the Aosta and Pompeii exhibition and the Roman section of the MegaMuseum will also be available.
Part of the Aostae 2025 series of events, to celebrate the 2050th anniversary of the foundation of Augusta Praetoria. All events can be viewed here
