Guided excursion. You are accompnied by a nature guide to the Duca degli Abruzzi Oriondé refuge. From the village of Cervinia you walk along the itinerary n. 13 till you reach the Oriondé refuge,
passing by the Alpine Church, where Pope John Paul II clebrate Mass in 1991. Once you reach the refuge from where ypu can enjoy an exceptional view over the Valturnanche valley, you can climb up to the Carrel Cross. This religious symbol is traditionally considered the starting point for the normal Italian climb to the Matterhorn. The return takes place along the so called Carrel trail, thus completing a circular itinerary.
