HOW TO GET THERE
You can arrive by travelling in the direction of Lillaz Valley, after Cogne town.

AREA PANORAMA
From the area you can see Val Valeille to the South, Mount Penne Blanche to the North and to the East Urtier Valley with the relative waterfalls in Lillaz.

EXCURSIONS
• From the Lillaz district, follow the path that rises to the left of the river in the Urtier Valley to reach the rocky drop, the origin of the Lillaz waterfalls; continuing onwards you arrive to the small village of Goille and from here climb along the valley to reach the Bardoney valley and mountain pasture.

The new refuge is located near Alpe Grauson Neuf at 2510 meters in a position easily reachable with a walk of about 2h30 from the hamlet of Gimillan and it is a good starting point for excursions in the area.

The refuge is located in the middle of the prestigious Gran Paradiso National Park, in the deep valley of Lauson at 2.588 meters, 2,30 hours on foot from Valnontey. Renovated hunting lodge that once belonged to King Vittorio Emanuele II. It’s an excellent starting point for hikes, mountaineering and ski-mountaineering tours.
In summer cccessible only on foot, in spring only with snowshoes or mountaineering skis.

Inside a real mountain dairy, stands the Bar à Fromage restaurant: a fireplace always lit, Bosses raw ham on display and a one-of-a-kind cheese trolley... This is the setting inside where conviviality and mountain tradition are served through dishes with an intense flavour that are hard to forget. Cheeses but not only, also lots of meat and fish from the small triticulture of Santino di Lillaz.

The large windows overlook the meadows of Sant'Orso and the majestic mountains framing them, making lunch and dinner unique opportunities to also savor the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

The restaurant Coeur de bois of the Miramonti hotel offers a romantic setting furnished with woodwork dating back to the 18th century, coffered ceilings, frescoes, paintings and old furniture. Born where the old family butcher's shop once stood, the restaurant La Brasserie du Bon Bec has been promoting old-fashioned cuisine for almost forty years: casual and popular but not for this reason less refined. Don't miss the Frecachà, the fondue in a bread crust and, of course, the friendship cup.

Five tables only (each representing the dining customs of various eras, from the 1600s to today), a unique collection of late 19th-century paintings recalling the humble, simple life of Cogne residents of the time, and an unparalleled view over the Sant’Orso meadows and the Gran Paradiso massif make for the perfect setting of this intimate restaurant. Chef Niccolò de Riu leads his team in a continuous pursuit of new culinary emotions, always anchored in tradition and the use of superb-quality ingredients.

The award-winning wine cellar curated by Rino Billia (featuring 1,800 labels and about 16,000 bottles) is sure to impress guests, taking them on a journey into Bacchus's realm through time and space.

Roberto Novali, the House's Maître Fromager, shares and serves his carefully selected and aged cheeses from his maturing cellar.

Bar Ristoro at the foot of the Lillaz waterfalls, easily reachable in 15 minutes on foot from the center of the Lillaz hamlet. Family restaurant that offers simple but tasty dishes, to be consumed on one of the three panoramic terraces surrounded by nature. It is advisable to book well in advance. Service only at lunch.

In 1966 the ski instructor and restorer Arturo Allera opens the doors of the restaurant “Lou Ressignon” – the so called midnight snack in Cogne dialect – offering its customers the best traditional and local dishes in a warm and quaint ambience. Today his son Davide and his daughter Elisabetta proudly continue the family tradition evidencing their devotion to the culinary culture of the Aosta Valley, preserving local aromas and flavors. The unique position also offers the possibility for having meals in the open air on the Terrace, located at the entrance of the Hotel Sant’Orso and close to the panoramic garden. Dogs, are admitted to the Terrace.
