Corgnolaz - Cleyva Bella - Col de Nannaz

One-day excursions  -  Chamois

From the square in the municipal capital, follow the dirt track that goes up to the hamlet of Crépin and continue towards Alpe Foresus (itinerary 4). A few dozen metres before this pasture, at the crossroad with the road from Alpe Charavellessaz, take route 4 which goes right, then left, and cross a wide plateau heading towards Alpe Cleyva Bella. From here, continue up until you come to a crossroad with Alta Via 1. Take the right branch and go up a small valley at the top of which you find Col de Nana.

Corgnolaz - Col Pilaz and the big bench

From the arrival of the cable-way of Chamois, you will go further on the small road under the town hall, cross the whole village, cross the bridge and go on the right side on the classic flat walk direction La Magdeleine for about 1,5 km, here you will find an intersection of the two farm roads, in order to reach the Pilaz hill you will follow the left one through the wood. On the hill you will find some pic-nic tables. Don’t miss the “red big bench” for wonderful pictures with the Matterhorn behind you, the first in the Aosta Valley and the n° 125 of the Big Bench Community Project.
From here you can go further on for about 1100 m and reach the small alpine lake Charrey, about 1 hour (one-way and return - 173 m difference in height), the undergrowth is wonderful during the rhododendrons flowering period.

Corgnolaz - Col Pillonnet

From Corgnolaz, take the dirt road that leads to the hamlets of Crépin and Moulin. When you get to the crossroad after Moulin, take route 5 which leads to Alpe Cort. From here, continue along the same trail to reach Col Pilonnet.

Corgnolaz - Lod Lake

One-day excursions  -  Chamois

From the arrival of the cable-way you will take the road along the square.
You will follow the cobbled street, in front of the shop, and a little bit further turn on the left two times, first at the end of the village and then following the signs to the Lod lake. When you will reach the sport area you will turn on the right following carriage road. Then you will follow the dirt road or turn on the left and follow the stepped path. At the end you will cross the dirt road and reach the Lod lake where you will find a pic nic area.

Ru des Novalles

It is possible to reach the Ru de Novalles, a still active irrigation canal, by chair-lift during the opening times or by foot, when you reach the Lod Lake, or from the village of Crépin (path n. 4). At the bottom of the Foreses alp there is the departure point of the rû de Novalles. The canal follows a very panoramic path where you can have a very nice view ot the village of Chamois and its surrounding nature. It is also possible to make a round trip. Along the path you will discover the history and the nature through some panels. The word “ru” means only the canals of the Aosta Valley region. The Rus are small masterpieces of hydraulic engineering, that’s to say irrigation canals that were built around the XIIIth and the XVth century.

La Magdeleine - Chamois

One-day excursions  -  La Magdeleine

After the first hairpin curve beyond the church of La Magdeleine, village of Vieu, you turn left following the signs to Chamois. You continue for about one kilometre, at the next hairpin bend begins the path n. 107 that reaches the forestall track or you can continue on the road. At about one hundred metres after the curve,starts the forestall track to Chamois. Following the track you meet an alpine pasture and, soon after, near the road block for unauthorized vehicles, a wooden fountain. The route winds almost parallel to the Ru Veuillen (Streamlet if Veuillen). Once reached the Copetou Alp you climb for a short tract then you turn eastwards and you continue onlevel ground. Once reached the Sauveroux valley, you go down, you cross the streamlet and you continue in the wood. After the village of Suis, you keep going and you meet, to the right, the Trinity chapel and, soon after, near the bridge, the water mill with the ancient press. You cross the bridge over the Chamois stream and you reach the village of Corgnolaz.

This trail is part of the itinerary called “Gran balconata del Cervino” in this route there is an outdoor thematic hike (ideal for children), which has as underlying theme the Energy. A track where are placed 7 playing installations, leading us to the discovery of this element, in order to know how it is produced and consumed, as well as to lead us to think about the Water, the Fire, the Earth and the Sun. Along the track, which can be walked in both directions, have been placed 20 boards illustrating, in a simple and exhaustive way, to what energy serves, how much energy we use, how it is produced, how it is possible to produce it using renewable sources, underlying, at the same time, how to use and economize it. This route is characterized by 7 installations, that able the visitor the possibility to play an active role. Do not miss the double funicular wich allow you to “Flight” for 20 metres and the volcano to climb!
