The path of copper
Resorts: Ollomont, Valpelline
You will find traces of the mining extraction of copper in the areas around Ollomont and Valpelline: over the years, this activity deeply influenced the social, economic and cultural life of the valley.
The various points of interest are now connected via the Path of copper, as a way of enhancing this precious historical heritage; information panels guide visitors along a dedicated path that links the two municipalities.

Description of the route
The remains of a foundry are located in the hamlet of La Fabrique, in Valpelline, as well as the Ru Pompillard, a canal used to supply water to the factories, the hydroelectric plant in Le Cumet and the Fissionére gallery, currently used to mature fontina cheese. Valpelline also hosts a museum dedicated to its mining history and a children’s playground.
Several buildings that once belonged to the mining complex are located in the hamlet of Les Rey in Ollomont; the river separates the entrance to the mines, with Saint Jean to its right, Balme and Vaud to its left. Les Rey also hosts a mine-themed adventure park and an information centre.
