E. Chanoux Square - Municipal gymnasium
Free entry
10.00 pm - performances of dances and songs and the traditional barrel dance on the E. Chanoux square.
Followed by an evening of dancing at the Municipal Gym pavilion.
This is the “feast of the (wine) barrel”.
In the late afternoon the conscripts (young people who have just reached the age of majority) meet in Epinel, a hamlet at about 2.5 km from the center of Cogne, and they will cheer up the village streets together with the “jouveurs” (accordionists).
Then, helped by a donkey which pulls a cart with the barrel of wine, the small parade sets out towards the main village of Cogne, halting at Cretaz for a snack.
Later, in the evening, they reach the central square of Cogne where they perform dances and songs and the traditional dance of the barrel.
The festival continues with a dance party.
