The Giro d’Italia returns to Valle d’Aosta on Saturday 25 May 2019.
The Saint-Vincent - Courmayeur, the fourteenth stage of the twenty-one of this Giro d’Italia, will surely be one of the most demanding with 131 kilometers of track, 4,000 meters in altitude and five Grand Prix of the Mountain.
This stage, presents a truly insidious up and down which can reserve many surprises.
After the departure from Saint-Vincent, a town famous for its Casino and the Thermal Baths, the stage continues along the central valley, between mountains, castles, and splendid views. The difficulties of the stage are distributed along the entire route that leads to Courmayeur, where the Mont Blanc, which can already be seen from the Colle San Carlo, looks forward to the arrival of the riders.
The cyclists will have to face in sequence the 1,017 meters of Verrayes, the 1,582 of Verrogne, again the 1,256 meters of the Truc d’Arbe (Les Combes) up to the 1,951 meters of the Colle San Carlo before reaching the 1,293 meters of the departure station of the spectacular Skyway Monte Bianco cable car, in Courmayeur.
These are long climbs and high slopes, chained without breath, perhaps except for the crossing of the city of Aosta. The stage is therefore expected to be very challenging and at the same time extremely impressive for the views it will cross.
