The Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening is the first cross-border ski World Cup race in the history.
Breuil-Cervinia and Zermatt will host two men’s and two ladies’ downhill races on the «Gran Becca» ski track, newly designed by 2010 Olympic downhill champion Didier Défago, covering 935 metres of altitude over four kilometres and a maximum speed of 135 km/h.
The new cable car that connects Testa Grigia to the Klein Matterhorn, allowing transit from Breuil-Cervinia and Zermatt all year round, has been in operation since July 2023.
The Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening is therefore the highest altitude race on the Ski World Cup calendar!
Various side events with music and entertainment shows are scheduled in Breuil-Cervinia all over the week.
