The Centre d'études francoprovençales René Willen is organising the exhibition “Un joà de notra tera: lo fiolet”.
Discover how the game of fiolet has evolved over time: the equipment, clothing, rules, pitches and teams are all documented through objects, photographs, personal accounts and the key words of a passion that is still alive today.
Today, fiolet is a traditional Valle d'Aostan game. The modern game has its roots in the game played by shepherds who spend their free time playing with objects in their immediate environment: mainly sticks and stones. Like many other games of strength and skill around the world, fiolet was born and developed using a stone as a base, the péra, a small movable object, the fiolet, and a bat, the eima or massetta, to hit it.
