The Mushroom Fortress

The Mushroom Fortress, an art installation specially created for the Bard Fort by artist Michel Vecchi, is inaugurated with a ceremony to be invited.
The work is composed of mushrooms created using the wood of fallen or damaged trees, cut leaving roots in the ground as a sign of respect for the regenerative cycle of life. The large colorful mushrooms of Michel Vecchi seem to move and communicate with each other, creating a magical and joyful world that enchants us and makes us think. Each sculpture reminds us of the importance of nature and the need to respect it, and is an invitation to a deeper connection with everything around us and with ourselves.

«The message of Michel Vecchi’s works is in full harmony with the dissemination and research activities on the topics of conservation and protection of the mountain and the issues related to climate change that see the Forte di Bard engaged - comments the President of Fort of Bard, Ornella Badery -. The installation will enrich for several months the green space in front of the stables and around it we will realize a series of creative activities aimed at children».
The installation is equipped with a sound system, based on the electrical impulses of real mushrooms that over the years have started to grow on sculptures. Transformed into music, these electrical impulses allow us to listen to nature in a different way and dialogue with its deepest and most powerful language.

The artist
From his roots in Courmayeur, where he lives for part of the year, Michel Vecchi has developed his art, a mirror of his love for nature and the sensitivity that it embodies. The forest is for him a place of growth, protection and deep introspection. Through his work, the artist invites us to reflect on the deep connection between us and the rest of nature. Each tree carries a message from the universe to earth: a memory, a soul and a specific power to transmit to those who approach it. The Mushroom Fortress is an opportunity to immerse ourselves in this connection, rediscovering the beauty and wisdom that nature offers us.
