A riot of colors, sounds and flavors of tradition, which mixes with a current, ironic and often irreverent soul: this is the Carnival at the foot of Mont Blanc or rather lo Camentran which means “Entering into Lent”.
On Shrove Tuesday, “lo Vioù e la Viéille” of each hamlet, i.e. the masks of the old man and old woman, go around the town announcing the arrival of Carnival with the sound of cowbells while the streets spread a delicious scent of “seuppa”, the typical soup that is distributed in Abbé Henry square at lunchtime with fontina cheese, sausages and black bread.
Fun, cheerfulness and lightheartedness for everyone.
In the afternoon the cheerful group of “Beuffon”, the colorful army that has the task of maintaining order during the day, invades the streets of the center, accompanying the parade of allegorical floats, whose themes are inspired by local events of the year. After the parade snack for children with animation and prize giving of the wagons.
