“D’Socka” are slippers made from a very warm, comfortable cloth, which were patiently prepared by the women during the long winter days. The “D’Socka” cooperative’s aim is to preserve and hand down this ancient tradition, by continuing to produce these traditional shoes so popular with the inhabitants of this valley.

The cooperative also produces gifts and items made with cloth, as well as traditional costumes from Gressoney with the gold bonnet and also sells products with brand and Valgrisa.

Les Amis du Bois, founded in 1974, is a small artisan business that produces typical wooden objects as per on local tradition. They mainly create grolle (wooden bowls for coffee) and friendship cups, two objects that symbolize typical Valdostan handicrafts. But they also make plates, mortars, vases, bowls, cutting boards, bas-reliefs and any other type of carved object, always, of course, in wood.

The workshops may be toured only with a reservation made by phone.

As far back as one can remember, the inhabitants of Valgrisenche have dedicated themselves to typical trades of the valley: the “drap” weaving, a rustic material obtained from spun wool and worked on antique “métiers” (looms) made of maple wood.

Initially the “drap” only had a few kinds of colour, while nowadays it has a discreet variety of shades and patterns, mostly geometric. The material is highly sought after in the furniture industry thanks to its appreciable robustness and durability and the particular heat that every handmade article gives off.

The weaving workshop is accessible to people with disabilities; the museum on the first floor is not.
