Sport Itineraries: Introd

From the municipal seat of Introd, follow route 6, which goes down to the old bridge and crosses the Dora di Rhêmes, and from here you get to the hamlet of Cré. Take the paved road that leads to the plateau called “Plan de Moral”, after which continue first on the private road, then along the path until you come to Porta Ponton. After an altitude change of about 100 m, the trail continues along the Tache firebreak track, until it reaches the hamlet of Sarral in Rhêmes-Saint-Georges. Just beyond this point, cross the regional road then take a paved road that connects Rhêmes-Saint-Georges with Sorressamont, in Introd. From here, the itinerary continues along the municipal road to the hamlet of Buillet, from where you get to the municipal seat after going through Deillod, continuing along the paved road.

Just after the hamlet of Bioley, in the municipality of Introd, take route no. 1 on the right of the regional road of Valsavarenche. The trail develops within a mixed conifer wood. Climbing gently, then moving over steeper terrain you come to Mayen di Arpilles, recently reconstructed by the municipality, where you can stay overnight (subject to request from the municipal council). The itinerary continues with the same features until you you get to Petit Mont-Blanc, where you can admire the wonderful view of the valleys of Rhêmes and Valsavarenche .

From Le Buillet hamlet go up following the forest trail that reaches the hydroelectric basin of Sorressamont and then continue in the woods along the path that laps the borders of Gran Paradiso National Park until Sarral hamlet in the municipality of Rhêmes-Saint-Georges.

You leave your car just before the parking of locality *Les Combes*cross the village of Les Combes and then continue along the path nr. 4, on the left. The itinerary crosses a protected wood of firs and larch trees. This place is so dear to Popes who spent many summer holidays here. The itinerary develops first on a path and then on a farm road until it reaches the path 4B. From here, still following the sign number 4, you continue on the gravel road, you leave the large path that turns right and continue to the rocky spur called Croux de Boque, where you can find a cross and a stone altar. From this point you can enjoy a splendid view on the Mont Blanc Massif and on the so called “Plaine di Aosta” (the plain surrounding the town of Aosta).

The flat walk, suitable for everyone, family with strollers included, starts from the village of Les Combes and leads to the Plan du Saint-Père, where there is a rest area equipped with wooden benches and tables and an information board dedicated to the life of John Paul II.
From Plan du Saint-Père you can go through the mixed forest of spruces and larches along the paths where the Popes used to walk, though the difference in height increases.

From Les Villes Dessus, next to the Parc Animalier of Introd, take the path n.4A; you can also start this itinerary from the Plan d’Introd hamlet crossing the old bridge and following the road that leads to Cré (signpost n.4).
The path goes through the woods of scots pines, crosses the municipal road in several points, arrives in Plan du Saint-Père and ends in Les Combes village where the *Home Museum Jean Paul I*I is located.

From the village Plan d’Introd go up along the route n. 6A following an old path that gradually gets deeply into the thick woods suspended over the rushing torrent *Dora di Rhême*s until Tache village and the bridge over the creek.
If you wish to continue, after crossing Dora torrent and passing across the Sarral village, you can reach Rhêmes-Saint-Georges.

From Plan d’Introd cross the old bridge and take the road on the right that leads to Cré. Once past the houses, follow the sign no. 6 which, first on a paved road, then on a dirt road, rises gently up to a maximum altitude of 970 metres.
