Mamo was an architect from Milan, in love with mountains and especially with Monte Rosa. He died when he was 44 years old, hit by an avalanche on 31st December 2009, under Rothorn pass (Gressoney).
The bivouac is located in the heart of the southern side of Monte Rosa, on the ridge of “Naso del Lyskamm”, in a slight depression protected from the winds.
