Exhibit and competition of the traditional Aosta Valley handicraft
Contact
In 1954, this event was initially created as a competition only for sculptors. After a few editions held in Saint-Vincent and Courmayeur, the Exhibition-Competition was transferred to Aosta and, as of the twentieth edition, was extended to other traditional Valdostan handicraft sectors: wood carving, turning, farming objects, weaving, leather and wrought iron creations, toys, furniture, typical costumes and shoes.
For every edition, regional authorities propose the competition’s themes for every sector, which are interpreted by each craftsman after a lot of careful research.
The objects presented, sometimes real masterpieces, are usually put on show in Aosta’s main square, under a 1000 sqm tensile structure, where tourists and handicraft lovers may admire them until late in the evening, discovering how much effort and skill is put into every single piece.
